When you are attacked by a monster infected with the Frenzy, you can also be infected.

The Frenzy
Infected with Frenzy
As time passes, or if your hunter is hit with Frenzy-powered attacks, the infection gauge will start to fill up. Once it's completely full, the effects of the Frenzy will kick in. However, your hunter can overcome the Frenzy by continually attacking the monster before the gauge fills up.
Fully Infected
If the Frenzy takes hold of your hunter, your hunter's natural ability to heal will be lost. Additionally, any Frenzy-powered attacks will do much more damage to your hunter. If your hunter is fully infected, you can only wait until the Frenzy wears off.
Overcoming the Frenzy
Overcome the Frenzy by continually attacking the monster before the gauge fills up. If your hunter can overcome the Frenzy, their Affinity increases.
Remember, if you get infected, don't panic and keep attacking! The Frenzy can become a valuable ally if you're able to overcome it!
