Energy built from your sword attacks will cause your sword to glow yellow.
When this happens, perform a charge to transfer that energy to a phial. If you continue to attack without charging periodically, a "Charge" icon will appear, indicating that your sword has overheated. This will cause your attacks to bounce off a monster.

Attacks Using Phials
When you perform an Element Discharged or Amped Element Discharge with the axe, all of the stored energy in your phials will be consumed and the attack will cause a small explosion wherever it lands. There are two different types of phials, Element and Impact.
Impact Phial
Makes it easier to Stun a monster.
Element Phial
Elemental damage is added to the explosion.
During an action in sword mode, ＋
Shield Thrust
Immediately after starting Amped Element Discharge in axe mode,
Element Up
Axe attack power is increased, and Amped Element Discharge turns into Super Amped Element Discharge.
1. Perform a charge in sword mode to store one phial of energy.
2. In Axe mode, press immediately after Amped Element Discharge.
3. Your shield will glow red, indicating that your weapon has an Element Up boost.
