Terrain-based Controls

Climbing/Jumping Over Terrain

You can climb up or over certain elevated pieces of terrain by simply running into them. You can also jump off such terrain by holding Rボタン while dashing off an edge or when evading by pressing Bボタン.

Climbing Walls

Use スライドパッド to move up, down, left, and right. You can also press Bボタン while moving to perform an evasive maneuver. (Press Bボタン without moving to drop down off the wall.)

Jumping Off

Press Aボタン to jump off a wall.

Knife Attack

Press Xボタン to use your knife to attack while clinging to a wall.

Terrain Changes

A monster's attack can damage the terrain and cause it to become slanted. While on slanted terrain, you'll begin to slide down, but you can press Rボタン to grab hold and keep yourself from falling.

Jump Attacks

Press Xボタン while jumping to perform a jump attack with your weapon.

Mounting a Monster

If you cause a monster to flinch by hitting it in a specific area with a jump attack, you can jump onto the monster and start attacking.

Hold down Rボタン to hang on while the monster tries to shake you off. When the monster isn't trying to shake you off, press Xボタン or Aボタン to attack.

Hold Rボタン to hang on when the head icon is red

Attack when the icon is green!

Attack to fill up the gauge before the head icon overtakes the gauge. Filling the gauge up will topple the monster, giving you a chance to attack it further.
