Receive Guild Cards from other hunters, and they'll appear in your offline Gathering Hall as a Hunter for Hire. Send them on a quest and they'll bring back valuable items. (You cannot make multiple requests at the same time.)

Hunters for Hire
Hire
Hunters for Hire will depart on their quest while you're on your quest. By increasing the number of hunters you assign to the quest, you can increase your odds of getting better items. Once you send out one group of Hunters for Hire, you cannot send out another until the original group has returned and you have claimed your reward.
Quest Results
Hunters for Hire will return to the offline Gathering Hall after you have departed on two quests. Talk to them upon their return to get your reward. They may also fail their quest...but don't be too hard on them.
Hunters for Hire Criteria
Talk to the Gong Lady in the offline Gathering Hall to change the criteria for the Hunters for Hire. You can change the quest rank, locale and target.

Checking Hunters for Hire
You can see which Hunters for Hire are in the Gathering Hall by touching the Hunters for Hire button while in a village.
