The Cutting Room Floor
What do we mean by stage gimmicks, you ask?
These are things such as people reacting to the fighters actions, or a goat statue falling over when it's touched.
The pet tiger would eat the duck.
It was really depressing, and having a pet tiger around is actually a REALLY bad idea when you want to have stages that seemed sensible, so it was rejected.
We thought it was wonderful and easy to understand, but it would stand out too much in battle and become a hindrance to the players, so we nixed it.
We thought it was interesting but kind of comes out of nowhere so we went with something else.
What exactly is he doing at the Kanzuki Estate anyway?
This machine was created specifically to create giant sushi rolls. Does rice even grow that big!?
People really liked it, but for some reason we didn't go with it.
Did you know it comes out from behind a waterfall!?
Well, now you do! We didn't go with this because if we did, we'd have no space for other gimmicks.
A little too fantasy, I think.
If we didn't have a good reason for it, we didn't want to put in things that never existed in the real world, so this got cut.
Next!
The elevator takes you down all the way underground.
The background of course, changes as the elevator moves.
While we liked the idea we felt the story element of it was weak, so we went in another direction.
The big boss of Shadaloo would be traveling in this while conquering the world, but it didn't seem like an interesting idea so we nixed it.
However, Shadaloo does own a submarine!
We also had a lot of stage ideas, so hopefully someday we can show them to you!
