Bow

The Bow is a versatile weapon thanksto its variety of Shots, including thelong-ranged Arc Shot and thedamaging Power Shot, and allowsits user to be highly mobile as theyfire off coated arrows as support.

Charge

The longer you draw an arrow, the more damage it deals, but drawing also drains your Stamina. Also, different arrows have different charge levels.

Arrow Types

Rapid: Arrows spread vertically
Pierce: Pierces through defenses
Spread: Arrows spread horizontally
Heavy: Can make a monster flinch and breaks parts more easily

Coatings/Coating Boosts

Use coatings on arrows to gain special effects. Depending on the Bow you use, you can also use coatings that have stronger effects.

Changing Coatings

Hold down to open the Item Window, and then use and to cycle through available ammo. Coatings with stronger effects are highlighted in green when selecting a coating.

Arc Shots

Fire a unique arrow into the air that comes down to hit a faraway monster after a period of time. It robs monsters of their Stamina and makes it easy to stun them. Arc Shot types and effectiveness vary depending on the weapon.

Arc Shot Types
Wide
Arrows fan out over a larger area before landing, for easy targeting.

Focus
A concentrated volley of arrows that can hit multiple times, for precision strikes.

Blast
A special shot that explodes on impact.

Power Shots

A power arrow shot that's one charge level higher than the previous charged arrow. Pressing immediately after firing a normal arrow will fire a Power Shot.
*Power Shots consume some Stamina.

Backroll

After a Backstep, press to perform a Backroll to further the gap between you and a monster. If you draw a shot after a Backroll, it will immediately become a charge level 3 shot.

Attacks That Can Be Done in the Air

After a successful Boost Jump, press for a Downward Shot, and then press either:
for a Jump Shot ( if using Type 2)
+ for a Jumping Melee Attack ( if using Type 2)

Backroll

After a Backstep, press to perform a Backroll to further the gap between you and a monster. If you draw a shot after a Backroll, it will immediately become a charge level 3 shot.
