The Cutting Room Floor
Even in Street Fighter V we had a lot of proposals of characters representing their home countries and their fighting styles.
The American representative, packing some power!
She's sexy and loves using her powerful tackles!
We cut her since we didn't have a particular fighting style for her.
This character here carried on this idea, though.
Puck Bunny
Our Canadian representative, who focuses more on defense than the American Football Girl.
She's a red-headed, freckled tomboy, but she felt a bit too weak in design, and since we take great pains to ensure all characters are well designed, she got cut.
Lobster Hands
What are... lobster hands?
Well, this character overworked part of his body, so his hands became as hard as a lobster shell, and now he uses those to fight!
Too fantasy-like for my liking, next!
Snowman
Another Canadian representative, but with unparalleled power.
We were thinking that he would grab the health gauges, but that would be way too Darkstalkers for this game.
Oddly, someone wrote "a pretty Zangief" in the notes of this character.
South American Assassin
This character was proposed when we were coming up for ideas for Necalli.
He was billed as a smart and cool character, but didn't satisfy the criteria we were looking for.
We wanted Necalli to be an attack-based, wild and mystical character.
Asuka
A character that uses a traditional fighting style, Aikido.
She uses her opponents power against them. We had too many Japanese characters in the game though, so she got the cut.
But I'd like to revisit this idea in the future!
Elizabeth
A French Savate fighter that wears armor to protect against attacks.
We were thinking she'd be an old arts dealer with money to spend.
But you know what? In the Street Fighter world there are way too many rich people!
But I really like the idea and concept.
That's it for this roundup.
There are a lot of characters with really deep fighting styles, don't you think?
It's so important to make sure a character is easy to grasp, easy to like, and has some sort of cool hook to them.
We still have a lot of designs to show off! Check back later!
