The Demon Gauge fills up when you attack monsters in Demon Mode, and decreases over time. Once the gauge is full, Demon Mode will deactivate and you will enter Archdemon Mode.

Demon Mode increases Attack and grants Knockback protection, but constantly drains your Stamina. During Demon Mode, you also have access to special moves such as Blade Dance and Right Double Roundslash, as well as the Demon Dodge.

- Being sent flying back by an attack
- Flinching at a roar

During a Demon Dodge, if you perform an Insta-Evade you'll attack while closing the gap, making it easy to follow up with another attack.
Insta-Evades also help to fill up the Demon Gauge.
