Dead by Daylight meets Resident Evil! Leon and Nemesis REporting for battle! (Part 2)

Last time we used Leon to take a stroll through the Raccoon City Police Station and engage in a fierce battle against Nemesis... How does DbD's Raccoon City Police Station compare to RE2 and RE3, and was Leon able to escape from Nemesis?

To review the previous article that describes a fierce battle between Leon vs Nemesis, please click here!

In this article, I'll talk about what it was like using Nemesis to unleash hell on the Survivors! Nemesis has a Perk known as "Lethal Pursuer", which lets him see where all the Survivors are for up to nine seconds at the start of the game. This makes it easier to find your first victim and head straight for them! I've set my sights on Jill... S.T.A.R.S...! Nemesis can't leap in front of people like he could in RE3: Remake, but he can still use his tentacle to share some of his virus.

In RE3: Remake, Nemesis could perform Olympic-level leaps in the blink of an eye. He's the ultimate "it" in tag!

Landing many hits raises Nemesis's level, which not only extends the reach of his tentacle, but also allows him to destroy pallets faster! (And he'll have to, since only survivors can leap over them.) I got Jill with my tentacle! Alright! Whoa, looks like a zombie wants to join in on the fun! I bet Jill's even more surprised than me to see it here. If Jill gets attacked by a zombie while she's contaminated, she'll take damage. In a way, zombies are like my sub-weapons! Sic 'em, my undead minion!

Jill vs. Nemesis and his work associate! Place your bets, ladies and gents!

Jill managed to dodge the zombie, but I made sure she was greeted by my tentacle after that! Now that Jill's been downed, let's hang her on a hook! Nemesis wants nothing more than to make S.T.A.R.S. members suffer, so I bet this'll put him in a good mood! (Assuming Nemesis even HAS moods...)

Right, so that's one Survivor taken care of for now. Time to hunt the others! I happened to see Leon, so I'll go for him next. Since he wasn't in RE3: Remake, Leon's never had to contend with Nemesis...until now, that is! It's so cool to see this finally happening!

While I'm pursuing Leon and Chris, an exit gate is opened and Jill is eventually able to make her way out... She's just as much of a badass in this game as she is in RE3: Remake.

You're safe for now, Jill, but I'll get you next time! I promise!

Sorry, Nemesis... Looks like Jill escaped your clutches. But she's dead meat next time!
Welp, that's a wrap for my playthrough of DbD! Whether it's the faithfully recreated maps or the beloved characters of the series, there's plenty here for Resident Evil fans to enjoy! And fans of DbD will no doubt love the new abilities and whatnot that Resident Evil brings to the game to mix things up! It's so cool to see Leon and Jill team up together, since we never really get to see them do that in the main series. Definitely a high point of the DLC!

Leon and Claire tending to Jill's wounds. Three legends of Raccoon City working together. Brings a tear to my eye!

Finally, I'd like to take this opportunity to share a few messages from the developers at Behaviour Interactive.

Mathieu Côté, Game Director
“We could not have dreamed of a better way to celebrate our fifth anniversary than by welcoming the legendary characters from Resident Evil into our universe. Resident Evil is at the root of all horror in video games, and we are humbled to be able to honor that legacy with a new chapter, thus cementing our own position as gaming’s Horror Hall of Fame. We are so very grateful to Capcom for everything they've done in the last 25 years to bring us immersive, terrifying games. It is an incredibly proud moment for us.”

Dave Richard, Creative Director
“We are excited to be working with the legendary studio Capcom to create this new Dead by Daylight Chapter. It is an honor and an absolute joy to welcome the original survival horror game Resident Evil in the Entity's universe. The result is fantastic and will surprise new players and veterans alike. Players can expect a chapter packed with iconic content and novel ways to sacrifice or survive inspired by the renowned franchise.”

Jérôme Nguyen Van Long, Senior Product Manager
“The Resident Evil franchise has given birth to a multitude of iconic characters throughout the years, with every fan having their favorite. So, allowing them to step into the shoes of the monstrous Nemesis, or famed protagonists Leon S. Kennedy, Jill Valentine, Chris Redfield, and Claire Redfield, is a way for us to treat our players, while taking the Dead by Daylight experience to the next level.”

Matthew Spriggens, Design Director
“The Resident Evil Chapter marks an important milestone for Dead by Daylight and we’re very moved to finally see it out! On top of immersing fans in one of the most popular horror universes, we’re also introducing new dynamics such as the integration of AI-controlled characters. This will give players something completely new to discover and we can’t wait for them to finally experience it!”

Stefan Beauchamp-Daniel, Senior Producer
“Leading a team of horror aficionados in such an undertaking as huge as creating the Resident Evil Chapter was an incredible challenge for us, and one that we were very excited to take on! We wanted the end result to be as perfect as possible and for our fans to be proud to see their favorite Resident Evil characters come to life into the Fog. A solid bond was developed between Capcom and our teams, so it was easy to collaborate and ensure that the Resident Evil Chapter would honor the source material, while delivering something that fans of both franchises would hopefully love.”

Thanks again to everyone at Behaviour Interactive for helping to make this amazing collaboration possible! This was clearly a labor of love for the devs, and that's why I want as many people as possible to play the game: to see the amazing stuff it has to offer.

Elements and characters from both RE2: Remake and RE3: Remake really made the experience unforgettable. This definitely won't be the last time I step foot into DbD's version of Raccoon City, that's for sure! Let us know your thoughts on social media with the #REBHFun hashtag: What did you think of Dead by Daylight: Resident Evil Chapter? Did it made you go back to RE2: Remake and RE3: Remake?
