Messages from the Developers

What's kept the Resident Evil series going for 25 years, in my opinion, is threefold:

    1) Updating the games to keep up with the latest trends.

    2) Taking fan praise and criticism to heart.

    3) The developers and other members of Capcom's staff pouring their hearts and souls into the work they do.

We hope fans will continue to enjoy the series!

The Resident Evil series is celebrating its 25th anniversary, and it's all thanks to you!

Support from fans all over the world has allowed us to expand the series and take it in new and exciting directions. I can't begin to thank you all enough! Here's to another 25 years!

  • Yasuhiro Ampo

It's hard to believe it's been 25 years since Resident Evil first clawed its way into the gaming world and introduced players to survival horror.

We've done a lot to flesh out colorful characters and creatures, and we hope to keep the series going for years to come!

I worked on the original Resident Evil back in the day, and if you had told me then that I'd still be working on the series 25 years later, I probably wouldn't believe you.

What's kept me going all these years is the love and support fans continue to show the series.

I hope we can keep making games that shock and horrify (in good ways!) for years to come!

When I played the first Resident Evil game back in the day, I was just a young boy naive to the world of horror.

Now I've been totally consumed by its games and movies!

That obsession's led me to work on the Resident Evil series, which celebrates its 25th anniversary this year.

I'm working on the next entry, Resident Evil Village, and this is my first game as a director. Please enjoy it!

  • Tomonori Takano

    Art Director

When I played the first Resident Evil as a kid, I was blown away by how realistic horror games could be.

And now, 15 years later, I'm not only still playing the games, I'm making them too! I'm so happy the Resident Evil series is celebrating its 25th anniversary!

The games hold a special place in my heart, and I hope they'll continue to do the same for other fans going forward!

Hello, I am Ashley Swidowski, I am the Character Art-Director at Naughty Dog. I wanted to first congratulate all of the developers for 25 years of amazing, amazing Resident Evil titles.

Happy Anniversary to you, thank you so much for all of the hard work and dedication. I hope that no matter what game you touched, or what part of the game that you are responsible for, you have brought inspiration to so many people over the years. Myself included. When I think back on what Resident Evil game had the most influence on me as an artist and on my career. I always think back to Resident Evil 2. This was a game that when I played it for the first time, I really felt like it kind-of encompassed what I was looking for in games. Which was, very novel character designs, and grounder relationships. Kind of these dynamic people that we got to see respond to this very tense situation. I have always been a big fan of horror. So, the game resonated with me right away. Characters like Leon and Ada are some of my favorites. And watching those two rustle around with their feelings for each other, has always been a joy to occur again and again, as new games come out. I am really, really stoked to see what the Village is! It looks super interesting, and mysterious. Chris is in there, and I am always excited to see my favorites pop up again in new games. But, I just want to know what he is getting in to, and what role does he play in all of this mystery and intrigue. Thanks so much again. You guys did amazing work, you are doing amazing work. Each game that comes out really becomes its own memorable experience. I can tell that the devs involved, the teams involved, always take the work very seriously. But don’t forget the fun of getting to work on a game, especially one as amazing as a Resident Evil game. So thanks so much guys, and again, congratulations!

I'd like to congratulate the Resident Evil team on their 25th Anniversary!
25 years is a long time. It has been a true pleasure watching Capcom embrace new technologies and find new ways to advance storytelling and gameplay over the last 4 console generations. I can‘t wait to see what Resident Evil Village will be like on PlayStation 5!
