Congratulations on the 30th anniversary of the Resident Evil series!
Each new installment continues to surprise us, make us tremble with fear, and delight us. And when I think that it has already been 30 years since that shocking debut, I am once again struck by the series’ overwhelming popularity and its timeless, undiminished appeal.
The days I spent working on Infinite Darkness and Death Island were truly blissful. Through those experiences, I was able to witness firsthand the deep passion that so many people, including Capcom, have for this series, and to glimpse up close the secret behind its enduring success.
As someone grateful to be living in the same era as the Resident Evil series, I will continue to tremble with excitement as I wait for when we can once again witness new scares and terrors.

Congratulations on the 30th anniversary of the Resident Evil series!
Since its debut in 1996, the series has pioneered the survival horror genre and continued to deliver truly one-of-a-kind experiences to players around the world. I would like to express my deepest respect for this remarkable legacy. I am also profoundly grateful for the history that Resident Evil and PlayStation have shared, expanding the possibilities of video games together.
I first played Resident Evil in 1996 on a 14-inch TV/VCR combo. It was an era before 4K resolution or 3D audio, but the fear and tension I felt then remain vivid in my memory to this day. Even now, the experience still feels as powerful as ever.
As Resident Evil continues to evolve even after 30 years, I sincerely look forward to the new surprises and emotions it will create, and to seeing those experiences passed on to the next generation.
