You can set the input delay for multiplayer matches from Main Menu > Options > Network. (You can also press [key-BtnR1] in the lobby screen to change your input delay.)
The larger the input delay value, the smoother multiplayer will feel, but the delay you experience after making an input will feel longer as a result.
If you feel your inputs have too long of a delay, try changing the setting to a smaller number (the value is indicated by the number of pips highlighted).

The amount of delay you experience may also depend on your personal hardware or network specifications.
